I see clients in person in Northglenn and via video teletherapy across Colorado for Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) and therapeutic counseling (“talk therapy”).

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is a unique, rapid recovery approach to psychotherapy which uses bilateral eye movements and guides the client to replace the mind’s negative images that cause the symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress (and other issues) with positive images of the client’s choosing. We say “keep the knowledge, lose the pain” because you will keep the facts but lose the distressing images, sensations and symptoms. This is done quickly, with clients feeling relieving and positive effects within the first session. Once the negative images have been replaced by positive ones, the triggers will be gone, nightmares and repeated intrusive thoughts stop, and the intensity of difficult emotions will drastically decrease.

ART is an integrated, somatic psychotherapy that is evidence-based and scientifically backed. Many folks love it in part because it does not require discussing trauma details and the process itself is calming. ART is generally very effective in treating trauma (one-time incidents or complex trauma), anxiety, depression, phobias, grief and many other issues. More so, it provides relief and resolution rapidly, in fewer sessions and therefore often at a lower cost overall.

The intake includes practicing the eye movements so you can experience how it works, ensure it is effective for you, and feel some immediate relief. While I may offer and then use some brief ART tools in standard “talk therapy” sessions, longer dedicated ART sessions are used to fully address problem symptoms, images and sensations related to specific traumas or distressing issues. The recommended number of ART sessions will vary by person but it is good to plan on engaging in at least 2-5 ART sessions per theme/issue. These may occur a few days apart, weekly, or less often depending on your goals and our mutual scheduling availability.

Therapeutic Counseling
One-on-One ”Talk Therapy”

Life is challenging! Together we can achieve relief, growth, and success in areas that are important to you as a unique individual. I will listen, hold your stories, collaborate with you in defining your path, and support you along the way. I use an integrated, trauma-informed, person-centered approach which may incorporate motivational interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT/SFBT), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) tools depending on your needs, goals, and strengths. With exceptions, I generally encourage clients to incorporate at least some Accelerated Resolution Therapy with therapeutic counseling for more immediate relief and to increase the effectiveness of :talk therapy. Our work together may include:

  • space to process and experience catharsis

  • validation of your experience and emotions

  • capitalizing on your strengths and interests

  • building stress management and coping skills

  • developing additional healthy habits

  • increasing emotion awareness & regulation

  • healing pain and traumas

  • determining specific goals and next steps

  • exploring values and passions

  • considering new ideas and perspectives

  • constructing your ideal life!

Should I do ART or “talk therapy?”

Combining ART with therapeutic counseling (“talk therapy”) can provide further healing and development, space to process your newfound changes, and build further coping tools for ongoing stress management, conflict & communication, boundaries, and emotion regulation. Some clients choose to alternate ART and therapeutic counseling, or they may first use ART predominantly and then follow it with therapeutic counseling. Others choose to start with therapeutic counseling and then we may incorporate ART later on. We can discuss this more specific to your situation during sessions.

Rates:

Intake sessions: 60min ($156)

Further sessions: 60min ($156) or 75min ($195)

Scheduling 75min ($195) or 90min ($234) for initial ART sessions is encouraged

Scheduling at 60min or 75min for regular time slots/standard sessions allows more flexibility in using Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) for any session, as opposed to needing to schedule ahead which delays treatment. This also gives greater opportunity to complete a full ART script/process in one session (rather than breaking it up for shorter sessions), with the intention of increasing effectiveness and overall relief of symptoms. With this 60-75min model, any session can be ART or talk therapy or a combination (75min is more conducive to a combination).

Longer or shorter prorated sessions can be discussed and depend on availability (e.g. combining intake and initial ART session, briefer sessions for monthly budget management or “check-ins” between longer sessions).

Session frequency is discussed and adjusted throughout our work together to best meet your needs and as you progress. Generally, I initiate therapy with new clients at a weekly or every other week frequency. Starting weekly is generally encouraged (even if just for a few sessions, when available) while every other week may better meet your needs related to finances, scheduling, or processing time. Twice weekly sessions can be helpful or necessary through crises or more challenging situations. When ready and if appropriate, some folks choose to meet less frequently over time, such as lowering to every other week or (later) monthly maintenance sessions.

Payment Options

I do not accept insurance as a direct payment option; clients see me as private pay / self-pay / out-of-pocket only. Accepted payment methods: credit, debit, or HSA/FSA cards, or cash/check (if in person).

I am transparent about session fees and hourly rates for related needs, in line with your Right to Receive a Good Faith Estimate of Expected Charges under the No Surprises Act. All of my rates are based on a $156/hour (60min).

Free Initial Consultation

Take another step toward relief by connecting with me and getting your questions answered. Schedule a 15-minute confidential phone consultation here at no cost. This consult is a joint opportunity to help ensure that I could be of help to you and that we could be a good client-therapist match. The call is not a therapy session and can be a helpful step prior to scheduling an intake (which we may do on the call).

Finding the right therapist for yourself important. After a consult, if you decide not to schedule an intake and/or if you have needs outside of my scope of practice, I can you provide you with information for other counseling resources.

In-person sessions are available in Northglenn, Colorado at 104th & Melody Drive on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
